My name is John Bada and I am a Sports Coach Assistant for GMax Trackstars Academy. Because my involvement with athletics is rooted from childhood, I went through the journey of wanting to fulfil my ability and potential in to becoming fast.
During my sporty and creative upbringing, I have experienced the amazing relationship that mindfulness and wellbeing have on accelerating performance. With this philosophy, I dedicate my expertise in biomechanics, mental health and physiology to provide a fun progression of bodily coordination, optimism and the emotional confidence required to maximise technique, endurance and speed in sprints.
Through my years of involvement within youth development communities and education in sport, my holistic approach ensures an enjoyable and memorable learning environment, while balancing enthusiasm and professionalism required to take aspiring athletes at GMax from playground to podium.
My name is Armando I joined GMAX as an assistant coach in September 2021 I have an interest in long
distance running of 400 and 800 metres. I have won several events in the past for example in sports day
I came 1st in 800 metres. I have a big passion for athletics, sports, and physical education. In 2020 I
completed a Digital skills course related to football at Chelsea FC Foundation- Education, I learnt how to
analyse football matches and how technology is used in sports.
My goal is to motivate people and help athletes succeed with GMAX. Outside work I am a football lover
and football fan and support Manchester United. My journey with Gmax has been full of different
obstacles that I have overcome, I feel like I have learned a lot of things and how to become a better
person. At a young age I had an ambition of being a football player, but I realised becoming a footballer
is a difficult pathway to succeed in but after I started getting into athletics in the running field and
realised it was something I enjoyed, I would do short distance running (100metres) and long distance
(800 metres).
As the years went by, I decided that coaching could be for me, but I didn’t have any belief that I would
become an athletics coach, I needed more ambition, with Gmax I determined myself to become more
confident and believed in myself with the help of other coaches. I have received a lot of support in Gmax
to improve my skills such as: communication skills, team working skills. I am happy to how far I have
made it and I never thought I’d be a coach. Gmax has offered me is a chance to become a good coach
and a better person, before Gmax I was normal 19-year-old trying to get over heartbreak this
opportunity has given me a learning experience to love myself again become more driven to success. I’m
an introvert I’m slowly becoming an extrovert because of coaching.
Health and wellbeing is important when I am working because it helps me be in a right state of mind
whilst working and cause a happier work environment. Before joining Gmax my health and wellbeing
wasn’t as good as it could be due to getting over my heartbreak but Gmax gave me a great focus on a
coaching career and it made me realise I have an opportunity for a career and to change my life.
My name is Amirah West and I am a Sports Coach.
Sports has been a key interest of mine from a very young age.
As a young girl, I had active involvement in various extra curriculum sports activities, attending many tournaments and representing for my local borough.
I was part of my Primary School’s netball team; Sports Captain of my House throughout Secondary School and entered GCSE PE early – completing that with a grade A. I then went on to do Athletics Officiating and officiated for Lambeth Youth Games.
As I grew, I developed a deeper understanding of the numerous great benefits sports and fitness incorporates into lifestyle. Building my enthusiasm to continue to nurture my attentiveness and ability. Sports has always and will continue to be a huge factor of my journey.
I am confident I have the necessary qualities to help other people
attain their maximum athletic ability both physically as well as psychologically.
In a similar way I imagine an artist is drawn to start subconsciously scribbling
sketches wherever they might happen to find paper and free time, I’ve always
been my best self, i.e. most at ease, most confident and most capable
whenever I’ve been engaging in any sort of physical activity.
This leads to me to write of the most arduous times I’ve experienced. As
aforementioned, I’m predisposed to want to exercise in order to achieve that
endorphin release which strenuous exercises produces. This is the reason why
when my circumstances became challenging, I innately sought running
(in it’s purest form without accompanying music, down personally untraversed
paths, think Forest Gump) and found it to be a refuge.
This strengthened and continues to strengthen my psychological fitness
because I often do it impromptu, when I feel as if I have to immediately
escape. It’s because of this humble reason for running why, when I happened
to stumble upon a Guinness World Record, I believed it was a reward for my
efforts; a simple, yet magnificent blessing, meant for me. It was the record for
the most Jumping Jacks in 30 seconds. My ever-present athletic and fitness
prowess aligned superbly with it! The record stood at 65 when I attempted it in
November 2019 on International Guinness World Record. I smashed it and
achieved 68!
It is this unpretentious, instinctual predilection of mine to simply run or move
my body which I hope to imbue into those I work with and attaining any
degree of this, I think will help them grow and enjoy their athletic pursuits
whilst working with me.

Whether the situations you are is bad or whether they are good.
Life always brings it back to the middle.
Athletics was never first choice for me Football was and still is, nearly having professional opportunity with Millwall but I choked on the opportunity.
It took me years to finally realise I wanted be involve in sports again, here I am today as a coach passing on my knowledge and experience to the new generation and help them succeed in their dreams. I don’t do it because it’s my job but I do it because it makes a me a better person.
My journey starts now with Gmax and this has given me the opportunity to work with young people, Where I can relate to their needs as a young person myself. For them it feels like stuck on a never-ending rollercoaster. The expectations they have for themselves, as well as the pressures of fitting in, growing up and planning a future, can make it hard for them to cope. That’s where I come in as their coach helping them develop life skills and learn how to manage some of the stresses that come along the way in whatever sports they choose.
I will do my best to help build their confidence and also setting and achieving their goals.
I do not aim to stand in as parents, teachers or friends. I’m here to offer impartial, trustworthy support without any judgement and hopefully build a champion within themselves.
Coaching. Coaching is something that has been around for most of our lives. The ability to be able to mold an individual into a vision. Endless potential at your disposal. The very best are where they are today because they had somebody in their corner to further develop whatever talent was available. Broken down, being a coach simply means being a teacher because the ideas, thoughts, and strategies in your head need to be taught so that others can learn. My introduction to coaching was very unique and insightful. I have a combined background of football, personal training and bodybuilding. As it stands currently, I am both an athlete and a coach. I think that this sets me apart from other coaches because I understand what it feels like to coach and to be coached. I can also sympathise with athletes that I work with to a great deal. The reason why I’ve decided to take up coaching is because it is something that I see myself doing long term and my understanding of sports is very good. Prior to joining Gmax, I coached football. Going from that to athletics wasn’t challenging at all to me because I personally like athletics so adapting was fairly easy.
